Ancient Mycenae is one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Greece and one of the most important historical sites world wide. It is located in Argos on the Eastern side of the Peloponnese region of mainland Greece between the still populated cities of Argos and Nafplion. It is close enough to Athens to be easily visited for day trips and many thousands of tourists travel to the fascinating site every year.
